MUMBAI (Web Desk) – Bollywood veteran Govinda was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu area after he reportedly collapsed at home in the early hours of Wednesday.
The 61-year-old actor, known for his vibrant performances and iconic dance numbers, was taken to CritiCare Hospital after losing consciousness due to what reports described as medical complications and mental stress.
According to Indian media, Govinda had consulted a doctor over the phone late Tuesday night and was advised to take medication. However, his condition deteriorated, leading to his emergency admission at around 1am. His legal adviser and close friend, Bandal, confirmed that the actor was brought in unconscious and underwent several medical tests. Results were still awaited on Wednesday morning.
Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, told Indian media that doctors were monitoring the actor’s condition and expected to make a further assessment by noon.
Just two days before the incident, Govinda was seen visiting fellow Bollywood legend Dharmendra at a Mumbai hospital after reports emerged about the veteran actor’s health. Rumours about Dharmendra’s death had circulated on social media but were promptly denied by his family.
After receiving treatment, Govinda was discharged from the hospital later on Wednesday. Speaking briefly to reporters outside, he assured them that he was doing fine before heading home.
This is the second hospitalisation for Govinda in just over a year. In October last year, he sustained a self-inflicted injury when his licensed revolver accidentally discharged, striking his leg. He was admitted to hospital and underwent surgery to remove the bullet before making a full recovery.
Govinda, whose career spans over three decades, remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved entertainers with blockbuster hits including Hero No. 1, Partner, Bhagam Bhag and Raja Babu.
