Injury scare for Australia as Hazlewood, Abbott doubtful ahead of Ashes

Updated on:

Reports suggest that in the absence of Hazlewood and Abbott, fast bowler Brendan Doggett could be in line for a call-up to the national squad.

PERTH (Web Desk) – Just days before the start of the Ashes series, Australia has been hit with injury concerns as two of its fast bowlers, Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott, face fitness issues.

According to Australian media, both pacers are under injury threat with only nine days left before the Ashes begin — raising fears that Australia could be short of fast bowling options at the start of the series.

Reports suggest that in the absence of Hazlewood and Abbott, fast bowler Brendan Doggett could be in line for a call-up to the national squad.

It is worth noting that both bowlers experienced fitness problems during a Sheffield Shield match in Sydney, where they did not return to the field after the lunch break. Cricket New South Wales later confirmed that the medical assessment of both players is still underway.
