HONG KONG (Dunya News) – Pakistan showcased a stellar all-round display to defeat Kuwait by 44 runs and clinch the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 title at Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok, on Sunday.
Batting first, Pakistan made a fiery start as opener Abdul Samad smashed a six off Yasin Patel’s second delivery, while Patel’s pressure mounted with three wides. Khawaja Nafay joined the assault with a six on his first ball, helping Pakistan pile up 26 runs in the opening over.
Kuwait hit back when Meet Bhavsar removed Nafay for 22 off six balls, leaving Pakistan at 33-1. Skipper Abbas Afridi’s arrival reignited the attack with two back-to-back sixes. Samad’s continued aggression, including a boundary and a six in the third over, propelled Pakistan past 50 in just 2.2 overs.
By the fourth over, Pakistan stood firm at 95-1, powered by Samad’s explosive hitting and Afridi’s support. Bhavsar struck again to dismiss Samad for a brilliant 42 off 13, followed by Shahid Aziz’s duck, reducing Pakistan to 95-3. Maaz Sadaqat added stability with a boundary, and Afridi’s remarkable 52 off just 11 balls—with seven sixes—lifted Pakistan to a massive 136.
Kuwait began the chase aggressively as Adnan Idrees smashed multiple sixes, taking 32 runs off the first over. However, Mohammad Shahzad struck in the next over, dismissing Idrees for 30. Despite Bhavsar’s steady batting, Maaz Sadaqat’s brilliant spell shifted the game decisively, taking three wickets and nearly completing a hat-trick.
Kuwait’s resistance faded as they managed only 92 before being bowled out in the sixth over. Abdul Samad claimed the final wicket, sealing a commanding 44-run triumph and the championship for Pakistan.
