KARACHI (Dunya News) – A growing dispute between the management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and its aircraft engineers has begun to significantly impact the national carrier’s flight operations.
The ongoing stand-off has led to delays and cancellations of multiple flights, affecting passengers across various routes.
Sources confirmed that engineers have halted their work, causing delays in aircraft clearance. As a result, flights from Karachi to Dubai and Multan have been cancelled, while flights from Karachi to Lahore, Quetta, and Medina are experiencing delays. Similarly, a flight from Lahore to Karachi failed to depart on schedule, and delays were also reported for the Islamabad to Skardu flight.
PIA engineers have stated that their grievances stem from unfulfilled promises regarding salaries, allowances, and their service structure.
On the other hand, PIA management has expressed frustration, stating that the disruption of flight operations is an injustice to passengers.
Sources indicated that negotiations between the two sides are ongoing. However, if the dispute is not resolved soon, there are concerns that further disruptions to the flight schedule may occur, causing more inconvenience to travelers.
