ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has highlighted Pakistan and Iran’s shared commitment to work together for global peace and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
Premier Shehbaz made these remarks during his meeting with Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who visited Islamabad today along with a delegation.
The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the delegation and underscored the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and the brotherly nation of Iran. He reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to resolving international disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his highest regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pazeshkian. He noted that both nations strongly condemn state-sponsored terrorism and have historically supported one another in the face of unilateral aggression. Highlighting the shared experience of being victims of terrorism, the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan and Iran’s dedication to promoting regional peace, prosperity and positive cooperation. He expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including economic development and bilateral trade.
Speaker Ghalibaf, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, the government, and the people of Pakistan for their support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict, particularly the 12-day war, noting that Iran deeply values this assistance. He reiterated the importance of Muslim Ummah unity and global peace, praised the strong cooperation between the parliaments of both countries, and emphasized Iran’s commitment to enhancing bilateral economic and trade relations.
The Iranian delegation conveyed warm regards from President Masoud Pazeshkian and thanked Pakistan for the hospitality extended during their visit. The meeting was also attended by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi.
