LAHORE (Dunya News) – A resolution in favour of the 27th Constitutional Amendment was tabled in the Punjab Assembly on Friday (today).
The resolution was moved by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Hina Pervaiz Butt.
According to the text of the resolution, the House expressed full support for the amendment, describing it as a significant step toward ensuring institutional stability and transparency.
The resolution emphasized the importance of granting constitutional protection to local governments to prevent any attempt to undermine or dissolve them arbitrarily.
The House also welcomed the decision to establish a Constitutional Court, terming it a positive development that would further strengthen the independence and impartiality of the judiciary.

The resolution highlighted that the proposed amendment would reinforce provincial autonomy, maintain federal balance, and empower the Election Commission by making it a more independent and effective institution.
The text of the resolution further acknowledged that the 27th Amendment is not a revolution but an important phase of institutional evolution. It also paid tribute to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for his efforts and leadership in advancing constitutional reforms.
The House reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values and good governance, declaring that the 27th Constitutional Amendment would serve as a milestone in strengthening Pakistan’s institutions and promoting transparency, accountability and stability across all levels of governance.
