LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met a delegation of prominent Chinese investors who expressed strong interest in investing in various sectors of Punjab.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Minister said she was delighted to see women among the Chinese investors. She termed the meeting significant before her upcoming visit to Brazil, adding that Punjab offers enormous investment potential.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted that Punjab has introduced the Zero Time to Start policy for the first time, aimed at giving full support and encouragement to investors. She said Punjab is passing through one of its best periods in terms of investment opportunities.
The Chief Minister said the province’s industrial zones and parks provide a perfect environment for investment. She added that the government would offer tax holidays and import duty relief to attract more investors.
Talking about key sectors, she said infrastructure, IT, and medical tourism are ripe for foreign investment. She noted that after her visit to China last year, Punjab has been bringing innovation to medical and other sectors.
Maryam Nawaz said real estate and infrastructure projects in Punjab can turn investment into profit within no time, citing the RUDA project as a model. She mentioned that the government has built over 100,000 houses in just ten months,a record achievement.
She said growing tourism has created demand for more quality hotels in the province. “For the first time, we are introducing a glass train and a high-speed train in Punjab,” she added.
A large area has also been reserved for the establishment of the province’s biggest medical district.
“Punjab is now a paperless, online business province, apply today and start tomorrow,” she remarked.
During the meeting, senior officials of various Chinese companies introduced themselves and expressed interest in investing in multiple sectors of Punjab.
