Updated on:

The ban will remain in effect until Monday, December 1

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government has extended the ban on using wheat in poultry feed across all feed mills for another 30 days.

According to a notification issued by the Home Department, the decision aims to ensure the uninterrupted supply of wheat for human consumption. Section 144 has been enforced to guarantee a steady supply of wheat, flour, and bread.

As per the Home Secretary’s directive, wheat is to be used only by flour mills for producing flour. The report notes that feed mills in Punjab currently hold more than 100,000 metric tons of wheat, and the Secretary of Price Control reported that these mills were planning to use wheat for poultry feed production.

The Home Department emphasized that wheat is a basic food staple meant for human consumption and should be reserved for flour production. The Home Secretary imposed the restriction under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.

The ban will remain in effect until Monday, December 1.
