PMDC lowers passing marks for MBBS, BDS back to 50pc, eases attendance rules

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has reversed its earlier decision to raise the passing marks for MBBS and BDS programs to 65 percent, reinstating the previous benchmark of 50 percent for the 2024–25 academic session.

In a new notification, the council confirmed that the earlier increase from 50 to 65 percent has been officially withdrawn, directing all medical and dental colleges nationwide to follow the revised standard.

Along with this change, the PMDC has also rolled back the 85 percent attendance requirement for MBBS and BDS students, restoring the previous 75 percent threshold in accordance with past regulations.
