LAHORE (Dunya News) – Police arrested seven people for allegedly attacking a polio team in Misri Shah here on Monday night.
According to an FIR, a group of 20 to 25 men and women attacked a polio team in the Misri Shah. The incident took place when a polio team reached had a local school to administer polio drops to children.
Children's mothers started arguing with the polio team over an issue, which led to a scuffle. The women called their husbands, who reached the spot and wasted vaccines worth lakhs of rupees. A polio worker was also injured during the attack, the FIR said.
According to SP City Bilal Ahmed, an investigation is under way. On the other hand, Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir condemned the incident and said that health workers perform their duties regardless of the scorching sun and the severity of the weather, adding the government will not allow any miscreant to hurt their self-respect.
