ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has reported that the monthly inflation rate increased by 1.83% in October 2025, mainly due to higher food and energy prices.
According to the PBS report, tomato prices skyrocketed by 58.64%, while onion prices rose by 18.71%. Other fresh vegetables saw a 12.22% increase during the month. In urban areas, electricity tariffs climbed by 8.78%, and house rents increased by 1.46%.
In rural regions, tomatoes went up by 47.87%, and wheat flour prices jumped 8.27%. The price of a dozen eggs also increased by 5.83% in October.
On a yearly basis, overall inflation stood at 6.24%, with urban inflation at 6.00% and rural inflation at 6.59%. The average inflation rate for the first four months of fiscal year 2025-26 (July–October) was recorded at 4.73%.
Economic analysts say that food prices have once again gone through the roof, squeezing household budgets and adding pressure on the government to keep inflation in check. Tags:
