LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has commended Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her decisive action in permanently curbing land grabbing across the province.
Speaking to the media, Bokhari emphasized that the CM’s leadership has been instrumental in tackling the land mafia, particularly in protecting the property rights of the poor and underprivileged.
She highlighted the recent approval of the new Property Ordinance, which she described as a game-changer in the fight against land mafia.
The minister added that the ordinance effectively closes all avenues for illegal land grabbing, ensuring that no one can exploit the system for personal gain.
In the past, land disputes often languished in courts for decades, with some cases dragging on for as long as 40 years. However, under the new ordinance, Bokhari assured that all such cases will now be resolved within 90 days, guaranteeing timely justice for the citizens of Punjab.
The information minister further praised CM Maryam Nawaz’s governance model, which she said is grounded in the vision of "The State Will Be Like a Mother." This vision prioritises the protection of citizens' rights, the delivery of justice, and the welfare of the most vulnerable members of society.
Bokhari emphasised that under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, Punjab has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal activities, including land grabbing, weapon displays, and the intimidation of citizens.
"Maryam Nawaz's leadership has ushered in a new era of good governance, rapid development, and transparency, making Punjab a role model for other provinces," she stated.
