MULTAN (Dunya News) – Former ticket holders of the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have publicly distanced themselves from the group, declaring their separation in a joint press conference held in Multan.
During the briefing, ex-candidates from southern Punjab announced their disassociation from the TLP’s political activities, stating that the decision was made independently and out of respect for the sacrifices of the martyrs. They emphasised that no external pressure or influence was involved in their decision to leave the group.
The former ticket holders expressed full solidarity with Pakistan’s armed forces, praising their firm response to Indian aggression. They stated that if needed, they would stand shoulder to shoulder with the military at the borders to defend the country against any hostile intentions.
The group criticised the TLP’s recent protest calls, terming them unjustified amid external challenges faced by the nation. They described the demonstrations as unnecessary and harmful to public order, asserting that such agitation only weakens internal unity at a time when stability is crucial.
One former ticket holder said that, considering the country's current situation and the rise of violent and mob-based politics, all TLP candidates from South Punjab had decided to part ways with the banned group. He noted that while Palestinians were pursuing peace agreements, it was disappointing to see violent protests being initiated within Pakistan, a country that cannot afford further unrest.
The former members reiterated that the state stands above all else, stressing that a strong and stable Pakistan ensures the welfare of all its citizens.
