BAJAUR (Dunya News) – Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing four terrorists, including a high-value Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during an operation in Bajaur the security forces eliminated four foreign militants, including a high-value target — external commander Amjad.
The ISPR said Amjad, deputy to external Noor Wali and head of the leadership council of the India-backed group Fitnah al-Khawarij, was among the most wanted by law enforcement; a bounty of 5 million rupees had been placed on him.
The military spokesman said the militant had been operating from Afghanistan while carrying out multiple terrorist activities inside Pakistan. The Fitnah al-Khawarij leadership, he added, is using Afghan territory to attempt infiltrations into Pakistan.
The statement urged the interim Afghan authorities to take concrete measures to ensure foreign proxies are not allowed to use Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan, and said this incident confirms that members of Fitnah al-Khawarij have been repeatedly using Afghan territory as a safe haven for operations against Pakistan.
The ISPR said Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to defending the country’s borders and are conducting sanitization operations to eliminate any other India-sponsored foreign militants in the area.
PM praises security forces
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the security forces for the Bajaur operation that killed the highly wanted external commander and three other militants.
He said the forces, through professional skill, eliminated the wanted commander Amjad and foiled the malign designs of those who threaten Pakistan’s integrity.
He added that elements who harm innocent and unarmed civilians will continue to be defeated in this manner, and that the government is determined to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.
