ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership on Wednesday held a meeting to discuss formation of government in in Azad Kashmir.
After the consultative meeting of the PPP leadership, a no-confidence motion in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly is expected to be tabled within the next 24 hours.
The meeting was held at the Presidency under the chairmanship of President Asif Ali Zardari. Senior party leadership, including Bilawal Bhutto and Faryal Talpur, attended the meeting, along with members of the PPP Azad Kashmir Parliamentary Party.
The meeting discussed legal matters related to the no-confidence motion. Farooq H. Naik briefed the participants on the legal complexities of the motion. However, PPP could not make any final announcement regarding who will be the new Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
Additionally, another meeting was held under the chairmanship of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, where names of Latif Akbar, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Chaudhry Yaseen, and Sardar Yaqub were considered to be the new AJK prime minister. A formal announcement by the party is expected soon.
Meanwhile, the PPP leadership reached an agreement with the President of Azad Kashmir after which it was decided that Barrister Sultan Mehmood will not be removed from his position and will continue as President in the PPP government. At the same time, the Barrister group has formally joined the PPP.
