Pakistan, Kazakhstan pledge stronger ties

PM Shehbaz, Kazakh Deputy PM discuss trade, investment, and upcoming presidential visit.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Murat Nurtleu, who is currently on an official visit to Pakistan.

Welcoming him on his first-ever visit to Pakistan, PM Shehbaz expressed warm wishes for Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations.

Highlighting the strong fraternal ties between the two countries, the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s keen interest in enhancing cooperation with Kazakhstan in areas of trade, investment, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.

He noted that Pakistan places great importance on the upcoming visit of President Tokayev to Islamabad, and offered to send a delegation to Astana to finalize various memorandums of understanding and agreements currently under discussion.

Both sides acknowledged that regular dialogue over recent months has laid the foundation for significant progress, with key agreements expected to be signed later this year.

Deputy Prime Minister Nurtleu thanked PM Shehbaz for the warm hospitality and briefed him on his detailed discussions with Deputy PM Ishaq Dar.

He termed President Tokayev’s upcoming visit to Islamabad as "historic and transformative," expressing confidence that it will mark the beginning of a new chapter in Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations.
