ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a reduction in electricity prices.
As per the notification issued by NEPRA, the price of electricity for DISCOs consumers has been decreased by just Rs1.79 per unit. This reduction in power rate for DISCOs users was made under the monthly fuel cost adjustment for the month of July.
The notification highlighted that the latest reduction would apply to all consumers of DISCOs and K-Electric, except for lifeline consumers, prepaid users, and electric vehicle charging stations.
According to the notification, consumers would get this relief in their September bills. The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested a reduction of Rs1.69 per unit for July’s adjustment.
The reduction in electricity prices under the fuel adjustment will provide consumers with relief of around Rs24.5 billion.
