ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday said that NAB has ruined everything, adding that any officer who feels afraid should request a transfer.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani was hearing petitions of the affected residents of Shah Allah Ditta and Sector C-13. He directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials to submit a comprehensive report regarding the victims within one month.
During proceedings, Justice Kayani stated that NAB has already caused damage, noting that apart from political victimization, the bureau has no accountability. He added that officials should not follow NAB’s directives or fear anyone, but rather help the people.
He further remarked that whether it is a judge, police officer, or CDA employee—if anyone is afraid, they should seek a transfer, but they should not fear while doing their duty. “Mistakes are not punished, dishonesty is,” he stressed.
Justice Kayani clarified that it is necessary to consider the jurisdiction of civil rights, NAB, and FIA, as these matters cannot be handled by a single individual. He observed that if work is done properly, there would be no need for CDA.
The court also pointed out that properties have been transferred in the names of people who are not even born yet, and despite court orders, the CDA chairman and chief commissioner posts are still held by the same person.
Justice Kayani further remarked that to reduce workload, each sector should have its own deputy commissioner (DC), but instead, the official ignoring court orders removed one DC and appointed five others.
The court instructed CDA authorities to present a detailed report within one month on the status of affected residents so their problems can be resolved appropriately.
