ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday rejected the bail plea of accused Farman in a narcotics case.
During the hearing, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi inquired why the challan against the accused was submitted late, asking whether the investigation was so extensive that it took such a long time.
The state prosecutor stated that the accused was caught selling small packets of narcotics.
The defence lawyer argued that there was no allegation of smuggling against him. However, Justice Shehzad Malik remarked that under Section 9(c), narcotics recovery itself is enough to apply the law, and this was not a case for bail. He further added,“Counsel, no matter how much you argue, bail cannot be granted.”
During the exchange, Justice Shehzad Malik, smiling, said, “These days your gestures are quite popular.” At this, defense counsel Riyasat Ali Azad withdrew the petition on behalf of his client.
