Social media users turn Sajjad Ali's song 'Ravi' into viral meme amid Punjab flood crisis

It is worth noting that the heavy rainfall this year has led to a flooding crisis in Pakistan

LAHORE (Web Desk) - While heavy rains and flooding have severely impacted several areas of Punjab, social media users have taken a lighthearted approach to this harsh reality by making singer Sajjad Ali’s song 'Ravi' the subject of widespread discussion.

The famous lyric from the song, 'Ravi vich paani koi nahi' (There’s no water in the Ravi), is going viral in the context of the current flood situation.

Users are posting sarcastic comments, questioning how Sajjad Ali sang that there’s no water in the Ravi when now the water has reached homes and even bedrooms.

Some users noted that the song is gaining more traction in 2025, while others humorously commented, “The water has finally arrived in the Ravi, now we’re at peace.”

Meanwhile, a parody song has also gone viral with the lyrics, Ravi vich paani bohat ae, te idey kol jaana mout ae (There’s too much water in the Ravi, and going near it is death), which has become a focal point of attention for users.

It is worth noting that the heavy rainfall this year and the release of water from India have led to a flooding crisis in Pakistan, severely affecting the country’s largest province, Punjab. So far, over 2 million people have been affected in the province, and 41 individuals have lost their lives.

In recent days, flooding in the Ravi River has caused water to enter housing societies along its banks, submerging numerous homes. Affected residents are sharing videos of their homes’ conditions on social media.
