(Web Desk) - Actor Maya Ali has spoken out candidly against the societal pressure women often face when it comes to marriage, emphasising that she won’t tie the knot simply to satisfy public curiosity.
In recent podcast, the A-lister shared her personal stance, stating, “We shouldn’t get married just because someone is asking why we haven’t done so yet.”
She noted that women are frequently urged to marry due to concerns about age or the belief that a certain partner might “keep them happy.”
For Maya, the decision to marry goes far beyond such reasoning. “Marriage is a major decision in life. It is about two individuals and two families,” she explained, stressing that what truly matters is a genuine connection.
“The day I find that connection with someone, I will definitely get married, but not because people are telling me to,” she asserted.
She also touched on the role of faith in shaping her views. “If we keep saying everything happens by the will of God, then why don’t we believe that marriage is also His decision? It will happen when it’s meant to happen,” Maya reflected.
Rising to fame with Aik Nayee Cinderella and later solidifying her status through hit dramas like Mann Mayal and Jo Bichar Gaye, Maya has also left a strong impression on the big screen with films like Teefa in Trouble and Parey Hut Love.
Her remarks reflect a growing sentiment among women who are choosing to prioritise compatibility, timing, and personal readiness over societal expectations — and Maya Ali is unapologetically one of them.
