LAHORE (Dunya News) – In a milestone achievement, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has achieved ISO 27001 Certification for Information Security Management System, making PSCA the first and only policing institution in Pakistan with this global benchmark.
This milestone places Punjab ahead of the curve in secure smart-city governance.
PSCA always played a significant role in assisting law enforcers to control crime and track down high profile outlaws in Punjab.
ROLE IN CHECKING TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS
The authority is not only helping in curbing crimes, but also improving traffic laws by assisting traffic police to punish traffic rule violators.
Recently, it has introduced a new online feature aimed at simplifying the process for correcting erroneous electronic traffic challans (e-challans).
The authority said citizens who receive incorrect e-challans can now file complaints through the PSCA website at echallan.psca.gop.pk, where a dedicated e-challan review option has been made available.
The new feature allows users to view their challans, submit review requests, and upload images or evidence to support their claims.
Once submitted, the PSCA team will verify the information on-site and cancel the challan if the mistake is confirmed.
MONITORING SYSTEM
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) monitoring system is aiding the district police to track criminals, manage traffic, and expedite emergency response, officials said.
A control room has been established adjacent to the district police office, where the Safe City officials monitor CCTV feeds round the clock. These visuals are relayed in real-time to the relevant police stations for prompt action.
Video evidence from PSCA cameras also strengthened court prosecutions. “To further support policing, all station house officers (SHOs) have been given smart LTE handsets to receive real-time alerts and improve coordination with other stations,” he added. Moreover, Rs0.4 million has been recovered from e-challan defaulters, over 2,000 traffic warnings have been issued, and more than 100 beggars have been apprehended.
