LAHORE (Dunya News) – On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, drones and artificial intelligence have been deployed in flood-hit areas of the province, creating a new model for rescue and relief operations.
For the first time in history, drone services are being used to trace stranded people and deliver immediate assistance in affected regions.
The surveillance operation is focusing on the flood-affected belts of the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers. Live drone feeds are being transmitted to a central monitoring system established in Lahore, ensuring real-time oversight of the situation.
The drone imagery is integrated with an advanced AI-powered system that records and compiles data from rainfall and flood-affected regions. This cutting-edge technology is not only mapping the extent of damage but also generating digital graphics of the worst-hit areas.
Rescue teams are gaining a significant advantage from this system, which automatically alerts Rescue 1122 in case of emergencies. This rapid notification ensures that assistance reaches stranded individuals without delay.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif initiated this technologically equipped monitoring system after assuming office. By adopting drones and AI for flood relief, Punjab has introduced an innovative model aimed at enhancing the speed and efficiency of rescue operations during natural disasters.
