Karachi (Dunya News) – The Sindh government has raised concerns about a potential high-level flood in the Indus River due to the ongoing flood situation in Punjab.
According to the Sindh Irrigation Department, an inflow of 630,000 cusecs of water is expected at Guddu on September 3, while 560,000 cusecs are forecasted at Sukkur on September 4.
In a statement released by the Sindh government, it was announced that provincial ministers have been appointed as focal persons to monitor and assess possible threats in districts located along the Indus River. These ministers will oversee both the right and left banks of the river in their respective regions.
From Guddu to Sukkur, Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla will monitor the right bank, while Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar will oversee the left bank. Between Sukkur and Kotri, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo will be responsible for the right bank and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah for the left. Below the Kotri Barrage, Riaz Hussain Shah Sheerazi will monitor the right bank and Muhammad Ali Malkani the left.

The official notification instructs all provincial assembly members from river-adjacent districts to remain in their constituencies over the next week and maintain close coordination with the designated focal persons.
Additionally, these appointed ministers are directed to collaborate with the Sindh Irrigation Department to assess flood risks and involve MPAs in efforts to safeguard and monitor river embankments.
