SIALKOT (Dunya News) – Sialkot International Airport has temporarily suspended all flight operations on Thursday due to rising floodwaters in surrounding areas.
Authorities said the flight operation will remain suspended from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm to prevent any emergency situation.
A formal Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued by aviation officials, confirming the suspension.
Reports indicate that floodwaters from the southern side began approaching the airport, prompting immediate activation of staff and machinery.
De-watering pumps have been deployed to drain water and protect critical infrastructure, including the runway and surrounding facilities.
Authorities assured that the terminal building, parking area, and most parts of the runway remain safe, and there is no threat to any airport equipment at this stage.
The situation is being closely monitored, and officials are hopeful that normal flight operations will resume after 10:00 pm tonight.
