DARWIN (Web Desk) - Perth Scorchers stormed into the Top End T20 Series final after thrashing Pakistan Shaheens by 48 runs at Gardens Oval on Sunday.
Batting first, the Scorchers set a target of 156, finishing at 155-8 in 20 overs. Nicholas Hobson was the standout performer with a fluent 59 off 43 balls, smashing seven fours and two sixes. Teague Wyllie chipped in with a brisk 29 from 16 deliveries, while Matthew Kelly added 23 runs.
Pakistan’s bowling effort was led by Saad Masood, who claimed 3-21, while Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Mehran Mumtaz picked up two wickets apiece.
The Shaheens, however, faltered in their chase, collapsing for 107 in 17.1 overs. Khawaja Nafay (26) and Wasim Jr. (25) offered brief resistance, but wickets fell regularly as three batters were dismissed without scoring.
Keaton Critchell starred with the ball for the Scorchers, grabbing 3-13 in his three overs, while Kelly and Bryce Jackson bagged two wickets each.
With the win, Perth secured their place in the final, where they will meet Adelaide Strikers. Earlier, the Strikers ended Chicago Kingsmen’s unbeaten run by chasing down 131 with six wickets in hand.
