ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have decided to contest the upcoming by-elections together through a joint electoral strategy.
According to sources, the two parties reached a consensus on seat adjustments during a high-level meeting at the residence of PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. The PML-N delegation included Hanif Abbasi and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, while the PPP was represented by Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Nayyar Bukhari.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf stated that a formula had been finalized following directives from both party leaderships. Under the arrangement, in constituencies where the PPP candidate came in second during the general elections, PML-N will support the PPP candidate in the by-elections—and vice versa.
Federal Minister and PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi confirmed that this seat adjustment formula had previously been implemented successfully and would now be replicated again.
He added that both parties are allies in the Senate, National Assembly, and Provincial Assemblies, and will now collaborate in the by-elections to ensure victory.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where he expressed the party’s concerns. The Prime Minister assured that those concerns would be addressed.
The PPP delegation also reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government to improve the country’s economy.
