Agriculture is the backbone of our economy: Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday vowed to bring foreign investment for country’s development.

Addressing a ceremony held in Islamabad to mark the departure of agricultural students to China, the prime minister highlighted the government’s commitment to modernising Pakistan’s agricultural sector.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that students were selected on merit from all four provinces for agricultural training in China.

“We are grateful to the Chinese leadership for offering training opportunities to our youth,” he said, adding that a special 10pc quota was allocated for students from Balochistan as part of efforts to bring the province at par with the rest of the country.

Stressing the importance of agriculture, the prime minister said, “This sector is the backbone of our economy. Transferring modern agricultural technologies from China to Pakistan is a key priority.”

He expressed confidence that Pakistan would benefit immensely from China’s expertise and experience in agriculture.
