Veteran Punjabi actor Jaswinder Bhalla dies at 65

He gained immense popularity through hit Punjabi films

(Web Desk) – Veteran Punjabi actor and comedian Jaswinder Bhalla, a much-loved figure in Punjabi cinema, has passed away at the age of 65. According to reports, he died early Friday morning at Fortis Hospital in Mohali.

His funeral will be held on Saturday in Balongi, where many friends and colleagues from the Punjabi film industry are expected to attend and pay tribute.

Bhalla’s career lasted nearly 30 years, during which he became widely known for his brilliant comic timing and memorable roles. He started with films like Dulha Bhatti and later appeared in Jaspal Bhatti’s classic satire Mahaul Theek Hai (1999).

He gained immense popularity through hit Punjabi films such as Jatt and Juliet, Sardaar Ji, and the Carry On Jatta series. His character Advocate Dhillon in Carry On Jatta especially made him a fan favorite. With his clever catchphrases and distinct style, he made even short roles stand out.

His last film appearance was in the 2024 movie Shinda Shinda No Papa, alongside Gippy Grewal and Hina Khan, showing his continued relevance in the industry.

Outside of acting, Bhalla valued his family deeply. He is survived by his wife Parmdeep, a fine arts teacher in Chandigarh, and his son Pukhraj Bhalla, who followed in his father’s footsteps and became an actor. Though originally an engineer, Pukhraj entered the entertainment world through music videos and later films. In 2013, he acted with his father in Stupid 7, a special moment cherished by fans.

Jaswinder Bhalla’s death marks the end of an era in Punjabi cinema.

He leaves behind a legacy filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable characters.
