Pakistan reports new monkeypox case

The patient is currently in isolation at his home, say authorities

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Another case of monkeypox has been reported in Pakistan.

According to sources from the National Institute of Health, the 42-year-old patient hails from Attock district and arrived in Islamabad from Dubai on August 15.

The Border Health Services (BHS) staff at the airport identified monkeypox symptoms in the passenger, after which he was immediately transferred to PIMS Hospital.

Sources state that on August 18, the National Institute of Health officially confirmed the monkeypox diagnosis in the patient.

Authorities report that the patient is currently in isolation at his home.

Monkeypox is a viral disease that can spread from person to person. Therefore, authorities have advised citizens to exercise caution, particularly those who have recently returned from international travel.
