LONDON (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday announced that he has invited the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth to visit Pakistan.
Speaking at a press conference in London, Dar said the UK is one of Pakistan’s key trading partners.
He noted that talks were held with British officials on several issues, particularly matters related to Iran and Afghanistan, as well as cooperation to tackle the challenges of climate change. Dar also inaugurated a one-window passport facility for Pakistanis living in London, saying similar services will soon be rolled out in other countries too.
The deputy prime minister stressed that India cannot suspend the Indus Waters Treaty unilaterally. “If India tries to block Pakistan’s water, it will be taken as an act of war,” he warned.

He further said heavy rains and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had caused widespread devastation, and the government would extend full support to affected families.
Dar added that Pakistan had already placed the facts of the recent “Pehgam incident” before the world and demanded an independent inquiry into the matter.
Wrapping up the briefing, Dar said, “I have invited the Commonwealth Secretary-General to come and see Pakistan firsthand.”
