PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department has announced the closure of colleges and universities in the province’s winter zone due to heavy rains and flood threats.
According to the official notification, all colleges and universities will remain closed from August 19 to 25 as a precautionary measure to protect the lives of students, teachers, and staff.
The notification added that institutions may continue academic activities through online classes during the closure.
Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, said that a relief plan for higher education in the affected areas has been devised, assuring that students would not face difficulties or lack of facilities due to the disaster situation.
Meanwhile, in Malakand district, both government and private educational institutions have also been shut for one week due to continuous rainfall, flood risk, and landslide threats. In Swat, schools in flood-hit areas—both public and private—will remain closed until August 25.
