LAHORE (Dunya News) – A special central court in Lahore on Monday issued bailable arrest warrants for former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi after rejecting his application for a one-day exemption from court appearance.
The proceedings were presided over by Judge Muhammad Arif Khan Niazi, who was hearing a money laundering case involving Elahi and other suspects.
During the hearing, Elahi’s legal counsel requested a one-day exemption, citing the former CM’s illness and the advice of doctors for rest.
However, the court expressed displeasure over the request and subsequently dismissed the exemption plea.
In response, bailable warrants were issued for the former chief minister.
It is recalled that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore has already submitted an incomplete challan (charge sheet) against Parvez Elahi and co-accused in the case.
