ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is visiting India today, and after completing his trip, he will arrive in Pakistan on August 21 for a two-day official visit.
During his visit to Pakistan, the Chinese FM will meet with both civilian and military leadership. These meetings will include strategic dialogues between the two countries, discussions on bilateral relations, and global and regional matters.
This visit holds particular importance as it follows two key conflicts: the four-day war between Pakistan and India in May, and the Iran-Israel war in June. In the aftermath of these wars, relations between Pakistan and the United States have also warmed.
Sources indicate that during the recent conflict with India, China’s support played a significant role in Pakistan’s victory. During Wang Yi's visit, both countries will assess how to further deepen their cooperation amid the changing geopolitical landscape.
The visit will also include discussions on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to China, where he is expected to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit later this month. During that visit, he will also hold bilateral meetings with Chinese leadership.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to visit Dhaka on August 23. His trip to Bangladesh has previously been postponed twice due to regional tensions—first in April due to the Pahalgam incident, and then again in May after India launched an attack on Pakistan.
During his visit, Dar will meet with his Bangladeshi counterpart as well as the interim head of the current government, Professor Muhammad Yunus. Additionally, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal will also be visiting Dhaka this week, and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is expected to visit in September.
