LODHRAN (Dunya News) – One passenger was killed and 20 others were injured when five coaches of Awam Express derailed near Lodhran Railway Station here on Saturday night, Dunya News reported.
The train, which was bound from Lahore to Karachi, met an accident near Lodhran.
Having being informed, police and rescue teams scrambled to the accident site and started rescue operation. Those injured in derailment of bogies of the train have been admitted to nearby hospital.
Railway high-ups and police have launched an investigation into the accident. Train derailment incidents have witnessed upticks in recent past, exposing fragile infrastructure of Pakistan Railways, which necessitates urgent uplift and renovation.

A few days, ago at least four people sustained injuries when two bogies of Musa Pak Express, going to Multan from Lahore, derailed near Raiwind Railway Station.
According to Pakistan Railways sources, the accident occurred when the brakes of the train failed, as a result two bogies were derailed, causing injuries to at least four persons.
