Pakistani cricketers show sympathies for flood victims

Nearly 400 people have lost their lives during past 48 hours

(Web Desk) - Pakistan’s cricket stars have voiced deep sorrow over the devastation by floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other mountainous regions, urging swift action from authorities and the public to support relief efforts.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported 399 deaths in just 48 hours due to floods, landslides, and rain-related incidents, with rescue operations ongoing across affected regions.

KP has been the hardest hit, with 328 fatalities and numerous injuries, while Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir recorded 12 and 11 deaths, respectively.

The relentless floods and landslides have ravaged districts such as Buner, Swat, Mansehra, Bajaur, and Batagram, destroying homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Authorities warn the death toll may rise as search efforts continue.

Shaheen Shah Afridi said," My thoughts and prayers are with the affected people and we stand together in this."

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed posted on social media, “Ya Allah, protect KPK, protect Pakistan. Grant shelter to the homeless and patience to those who’ve lost loved ones.”

Other cricketers echoed his call, sharing prayers and urging donations to trusted relief organizations. “We must unite as a nation to help our people."
