Showbiz stars express grief over KP flood tragedy

At least 330 fatalities have been reported in northern Pakistan

LAHORE (Web Desk) - Celebrities have expressed profound grief over the catastrophic floods ravaging northern Pakistan, calling for urgent public and official support for the affected communities.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported 344 deaths in just 48 hours due to floods, landslides, and rain-related incidents, with rescue operations ongoing across impacted regions.

The mountainous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 328 fatalities and numerous injuries, while Gilgit Baltistan recorded 12 deaths and Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported 11 fatalities.

Authorities warn the death toll may climb as search efforts continue in hard-hit areas like Buner, Swat, Mansehra, Bajaur, and Batagram, where floods and landslides have obliterated homes, shops, and infrastructure.

Umair Jaswal expressed grief over the incident and said: "My prayers are with the departed souls, and my heart goes out to the families enduring unimaginable grief."

He appealed to the public to avoid travelling to northern areas in the coming days in view of safety, as well as to ease rescue and relief efforts.

"Let's stand together in prayer, support, and caution," he concluded.

Popular actor Nadia Hussain also wrote: "Ya Allah! Please save our country from more disasters."

Writer Fatima Bhutto questioned the situation of relief measures in the flood-hit areas after 'horrifying' scenes.

Singer Asim Azhar shared his anguish on Instagram, writing, “Our land weeps today.” He added, “The floods have shattered homes, dreams, and lives. My heart breaks for every mother, father, child, and soul affected.” Urging unity, he said, “We must stand as one nation, extending a hand to those in need. Keep them in your prayers and support trusted relief efforts if you can.”

Azhar emphasised collective action, stating, “Together, we can mend what’s broken,” and called on the public to aid those suffering.
