ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday invited all political parties, stakeholders and civil society to join the Misaq-i-Istehkam-i-Pakistan (Charter for Stability of Pakistan).

Addressing the 78th Independence Day ceremony at Jinnah Sports Ground in Islamabad, the prime minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation, stating, “Today is not just a celebration of freedom, but a reminder of the struggle for the Two-Nation Theory.”

Addressing the event, the prime minister emphasised the urgent need for unity and collective thinking, stating,

“The time has come for us to move beyond political division, personal interest, and empty slogans. On this great day, I once again, with an open heart, invite all political parties, stakeholders, and civil society to become part of the Misaq-i-Istehkam-i-Pakistan.”

He added that it was not a revival of the Charter of Economy, but a broader initiative aimed at fostering national unity and stability.

He stressed that the purpose was to demonstrate to the world that while political differences exist, the nation stands united for the greater good of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif thanked the friendly countries for supporting Pakistan during standoff with India.

Highlighting the role of friendly nations, Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the strong support of China, Turkiye, and Saudi Arabia during the conflict and thanked US President Donald Trump for playing a constructive role in achieving a ceasefire.

Expressing hope, he added, “I expect President Trump to help resolve the issues of Palestine and Kashmir.”

Shehbaz Sharif also announced the formation of the Army Rocket Force, marking a major development in Pakistan's defence strategy.

Praising the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, the prime minister said Pakistan responded decisively and humiliated India within four days, stating, “Future generations in India will remember this defeat.”

“This historic victory proved that Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself,” he said. “Our nuclear capability is a deterrent, not a symbol of aggression.”

On the domestic front, the prime minister stated that Pakistan is now on the path to economic prosperity, with its debt burden reduced by half.
