MUMBAI (Web Desk) - The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to name its squad for the 2025 Asia Cup on August 19 or 20, according to Indian media reports.
Final selections will hinge on players’ fitness reports, which the board plans to review before making any announcements to ensure a fully fit lineup.
As per reports, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, and KL Rahul are likely to miss out, while Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have cemented their spots.
One major talking point is the potential inclusion of Test skipper Shubman Gill in the T20 squad. Gill’s exceptional form against England has boosted his chances, although no final decision has been made.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s selection will also depend on his fitness clearance, adding further suspense to the announcement.
The Asia Cup 2025 kicks off on September 9 with Afghanistan facing Hong Kong. Eight teams are split into two groups, with India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman in Group A, and Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong in Group B.
Pakistan’s fixtures include Oman (Sept 12), India (Sept 14), and UAE (Sept 17), while the much-anticipated India–Pakistan clash is set for September 14.
