(Web Desk) - Iran Air has introduced its first-ever direct flight route linking Quetta, Zahedan, and Mashhad, establishing the first regular commercial air service between these culturally significant cities.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mohammad Mudassir Tipu, welcomed the start of new route, noting it fulfills a long-standing regional demand.
“I am thrilled that Iran Air has launched direct flights between Quetta, Zahedan, and Mashhad, connecting three historic cities with immense potential. This service will enhance business, tourism, and people-to-people connections,” he stated.
He further emphasized, “Given our shared geography and economic needs, we are committed to further expanding air links between Pakistan and Iran.”

— Ambassador Mudassir (@AmbMudassir) August 10, 2025The inaugural flight arrived at Quetta International Airport on Friday, with Iran Air scheduling one weekly flight between Quetta and Zahedan initially. A ceremony was held at Quetta airport to celebrate the launch.
Last month, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that Pakistani pilgrims would be prohibited from traveling to Iran or Iraq by road for this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage due to security concerns.
In a post on his X account, Naqvi explained that the decision followed extensive discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Balochistan government, and security agencies.
