LAHORE (Dunya News) – Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Patron-in-Chief SM Tanveer has said that Field Marshal Asim Munir understood the concerns of the business community and took swift action.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore alongside FPCCI officials, Tanveer stated that the business community had been actively advocating for the nation’s economy and had presented its case effectively during a detailed two to two-and-a-half-hour meeting with the Field Marshal.
What was discussed?
Tanveer said that the Lahore Chamber’s Mian Abuzar Shad and Gohar Ejaz contacted him to join the meeting, which was part of a sustained effort since 26th June to push for traders’ demands. He described this period as being in a “state of war” for the business community, with leadership working tirelessly to protect their interests.
How were demands met?
One major achievement, according to Tanveer, was the agreement that the arrest of any trader would require the signature of the relevant chamber president. He emphasised that Field Marshal Munir had shown respect to the business community, earning their gratitude. “This victory has elevated Pakistan’s image globally,” he said, offering a salute and tribute to the Field Marshal.
When will changes take effect?
Tanveer also noted that India is currently subject to a 50 percent tariff, which he called an unprecedented opportunity for Pakistan. He urged the government to lower electricity tariffs and interest rates, adding that such measures could help Pakistan become an “Asian Tiger.” He reiterated the unity of the business community, stating there were no internal disputes, and highlighted the Field Marshal’s comment that he had been working for two years to restore traders’ confidence.
The FPCCI patron-in-chief concluded by expressing the community’s deep appreciation for Field Marshal Asim Munir’s decisive actions, vowing that the business sector would remain united whenever its interests were at stake.
