Major step for out-of-school children as KP govt launches sixth phase of Double Shift Programme

Schools for both boys and girls have been made part of double shift program

PESHAWAR (Zeeshan Kakakhel) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has launched Phase 6 of the Double Shift School Programme to provide education to out-of-school children.

According to official documents, 62 more schools across the province have been added to the double shift system in this phase. Under the new phase, schools in various districts have been converted to double shifts, including 16 in Haripur, 11 in Swabi, 4 each in Lakki Marwat and Abbottabad, and 3 in Lower Dir. Additionally, 4 schools in Nowshera and one school each in Khyber and Mardan districts have also been included in the programme.

The Education Department stated that schools for both boys and girls have been made part of the double shift programme to ensure equal educational opportunities for all children. Working children will now also be able to attend school in the afternoon.

The department has instructed the relevant authorities to intensify the enrollment campaign. So far, the double shift programme is successfully running in over 1,000 schools across various districts of the province.

This initiative is being regarded as a significant milestone by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in its efforts to promote education and integrate out-of-school children into the formal education system.
