Romario in, Alzarri out as Windies reveal ODI squad for Pakistan series

Head coach Daren Sammy voiced confidence in the squad

ANTIGUA (Web Desk) - Cricket West Indies (CWI) has unveiled a 15-player squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan, set to take place in Trinidad from August 8 to 12.

The selectors have made just one change to the lineup that toured the UK earlier this year. Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who was recently rested for the T20I series, remains out as part of a workload management plan.

His spot has been filled by all-rounder Romario Shepherd, who returns to the 50-over setup after missing earlier series against England and Ireland.

Head coach Daren Sammy voiced confidence in the squad, emphasizing the significance of maintaining momentum while acknowledging the stern challenge Pakistan brings.

“Facing Pakistan is a different challenge altogether as we strive for automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup,” Sammy said in a CWI media release.

“While our immediate focus is qualification, building a winning culture and strong team chemistry is just as important for our long-term goals,” he added.

He stressed that matches against higher-ranked sides like Pakistan offer key opportunities to boost the West Indies’ ICC ranking.

All three matches of the series will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad, on August 8, 10, and 12.

West Indies ODI Squad:

Shai Hope (captain), Jewel Andrew, Jediah Blades, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Justin Greaves, Amir Jangoo, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, Jayden Seales, and Romario Shepherd.
