Four miners rescued safely after emerald mine collapse in Swat

Army teams also joined the rescue efforts.

SWAT (Dunya News) – All four miners trapped in an emerald mine in Swat were rescued safely after a lengthy rescue operation.

The miners were trapped on Wednesday when the mine collapsed in the Malook Abad area of Swat. Upon receiving the alert, Rescue 1122’s disaster response team swiftly arrived at the site and launched a rescue operation.

Pakistan Army teams also reached the scene promptly and joined the efforts. After intense efforts, all the miners were successfully rescued from beneath the debris.

Locals present at the scene raised loud slogans of “Long Live Pakistan Army” and “Pakistan Zindabad” in appreciation.

Mining in Swat’s scenic mountains—especially for emeralds—has faced longstanding criticism due to weak regulation and lack of oversight, frequently endangering workers' lives.

The latest incident has once again underscored the urgent need for standardized safety protocols and proper training for mine workers in the area.
