ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Heavy rainfall in Islamabad overflowed streams and drains due to water coming down from the Margalla Hills.
Areas including Chatha Bakhtawar, Bhara Kahu, Chak Shahzad, and others were affected. Several feet of water accumulated inside homes, damaging household belongings and leaving residents trapped indoors.
Vehicles were also submerged in rainwater. Although water has been drained from the affected areas, public hardships persist.
Accumulated water in low-lying areas caused severe difficulties in transportation for residents. Due to rain, the water level in Rawal Dam rose, prompting the opening of its spillways.
The district administration has urged citizens to stay away from streams and drainage channels.
There is a forecast for more heavy rain in Islamabad and surrounding areas, raising fears of flash flooding in local waterways.
Meanwhile, all tourists stranded in Neelum, Azad Kashmir due to rain and landslides have been safely evacuated. The road from Kel to Taobat has also been restored.
