ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari and his Iranian counterpart Dr Masoud Pezeshkian held a meeting at the President’s House, where they reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations.
President Zardari warmly welcomed Iranian president. During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing ties in diverse and mutually beneficial sectors, and held detailed discussions on regional and global issues.
They stressed the need for coordinated diplomatic efforts to prevent conflicts from escalating and to promote peace and stability in the region.
President Asif Ali Zardari appreciated Iran’s principled stance on regional issues and expressed gratitude for Tehran’s consistent support for regional cooperation. He also thanked Iran for its solidarity during challenging times.

On this occasion, President Zardari stated that the fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iran are rooted in shared religion, culture, and mutual respect. He emphasized that Pakistan and Iran will continue to work together for a peaceful and prosperous future in the region.
President Zardari expressed gratitude to Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for Iran’s continued support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir against India’s illegal occupation. He strongly condemned Israeli aggression against Iran and paid tribute to the courage and unity of the Iranian nation during the 12-day war.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian thanked the leadership and people of Pakistan for their support during the 12-day war. He noted that Pakistan played a constructive role in de-escalating tensions and promoting peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
