ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistani Ulema met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and expressed solidarity with the people of Iran for their recent war against Israel, Dunya News reported here on Saturday.
Allama Sajid Naqvi, Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and Ziaullah Bokhari called on the Iranian President and expressed gratitude for Iran’s diplomatic support for Pakistan during war with India.
They praised the people of Iran and their army, who fought gallantly against Israel, and stressed the need for further deepening ties between the two countries.
The Ulema delegation during the meeting emphasised unity in the ranks of Muslim countries, and pledged to thwart conspiracies to weaken and divide the Muslims, fomenting their differences. Iranian President thanked the Ulema for their meeting with him.
Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on a two-day official visit as he aims at strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries.
He was received by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and other officials at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
Dr Pezeshkian is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Foreign Minister of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, senior ministers, and other high-ranking officials.
