Pakistan bans entry of Afghan freight vehicles without driver visas

Afghan trucks will be allowed to operate on temporary entry documents until August 31

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan has imposed a ban on entry of Afghan freight vehicles without driver visas.

However, Afghan trucks will be allowed to operate on temporary entry documents until August 31. A notification regarding the decision has also been issued.

The policy has come into effect from today, August 1 at all trade crossings with Afghanistan.

It is recalled that the Ministry of Commerce, one year ago, had granted Afghan drivers time to obtain visas

Meanwhile, authorities in Quetta have decided to begin action against Afghan nationals residing illegally in the city.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the deputy commissioner of Quetta, which reviewed the process of repatriating Afghan refugees. It was agreed that enforcement operations would commence immediately against those without legal status.

The deputy commissioner stated that holders of Proof of Registration (PoR) cards were given a deadline of July 31 to regularize their stay. With that deadline now expired, legal action will be taken against those remaining unlawfully.
