PTI moves LHC for permission to hold rally at Minar-e-Pakistan

Petition seeks NOC from the authorities concerned

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has approached the Lahore High Court, seeking permission to hold a political rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5.

The petition was filed by PTI MPA Imtiaz Mehmood Sheikh. In the plea, he informed the court that a formal request for the rally had already been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore, but the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) has not yet been issued.

The petitioner requested the court to direct the concerned authorities to grant the NOC so that the party could go ahead with its planned gathering.

He argued that holding public meetings is a constitutional right, and unnecessary delays in issuing permissions amount to limiting political freedoms.

PTI has its hopes pinned on the court’s decision as it gears up for what it calls a “peaceful and democratic” public rally at one of Lahore’s most iconic locations.
