KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh Ombudsperson on Thursday ordered the removal of K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi and imposed a fine of Rs2.5 million on him over harassment charges.
Provincial Ombudsperson Justice (retired) Shahnawaz Tariq sentenced K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi on the complaint filed by the company’s former chief marketing officer, Mehreen Zehra, accusing him of harassment and mental torture.
During the hearing, the provincial Ombudsperson found the allegations credible and ordered Moonis Alvi to be removed from his position.
Additionally, he was fined Rs2.5 million. The order also stated that if the fine is not paid within a month, the amount will be recovered by seizing bank accounts or property.
Furthermore, it was directed that Alvi's national identity card and passport be blocked if the fine remains unpaid.
Mehreen Zehra was hired by K-Electric in 2019 as a consultant.
Earlier this month, K-Electric’s Board of Directors had reappointed Moonis Alvi as CEO, effective July 30, 2025.
He has been with the company since 2008, previously serving as CFO, Company Secretary, and Head of Treasury.
Alvi to file appeal against verdict
Following the dismissal orders issued by the Sindh Ombudsperson, K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi has issued a statement.
In a post on social media platform X, Moonis Alvi stated, “I have always upheld the values of integrity and dignity in all professional relationships. The recent decision is deeply painful, but I respect the legal process and the institutions that uphold it.”

Moonis Alvi further expressed gratitude for the support he has received, saying, “I remain committed to the principles of justice and dignity in the workplace.”
